What Is a Lane Departure Warning?

If you’ve been researching the vehicles in the new Honda lineup, you may have wondered, “What is Lane Departure Warning?” It is one of the many driver-assist systems offered in the Honda Sensing® package, and it can help you stay safely centered in your lane on the highways near Asheville and Hendersonville. Learn more in this guide from Apple Tree Honda.

How Does the LDW Work?

Lane Departure Warning uses advanced technologies to enhance awareness and help you stay safe on Johnson City roads. So how does LDW work? It starts with a camera that is located near the rearview mirror, which automatically detects lane markings. If the vehicle moves out of its lane without the turn signal activated, the system will relay visual, audible, or haptic feedback alerts.

The Honda Lane Departure Warning will be automatically activated as soon as you start the vehicle, but you can deactivate it if you choose.

Lane Departure Warning Options

All drivers are different, so Honda has made it easy to customize the Lane Departure Warning system to suit your preferences. Selectable LDW warning options include:

  • Seat and steering wheel vibration settings
  • Optional visual alert in the form of a flashing lane marking symbol
  • Adjustable audible warning volume

Honda Lane Departure Warning works in conjunction with the Road Departure Mitigation System™, which warns you if you’re in danger of leaving the road. Choosing to turn one or both systems off will not impact the other Honda Sensing® safety features.

Honda Sensing® Features

Honda is committed to making driver assistance features more accessible to drivers throughout the Fletcher area. Along with Lane Departure Warning, the Honda Sensing® package also includes:

  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

All of these Honda Sensing® features work together to improve your CR-V, Pilot, Civic, and Accord safety wherever your road takes you.
